Story of Karli Raven

I hope my story is encouraging and provides inspiration to others.  The things I have experienced in my life have helped me become the person I am today.  Life experiences can be difficult or amazing. I try to focus on the positive and use my experiences to help others.

Discovering Her Voice

Writing was never something I desired to do. It became something that had to be done. There wasn't anything I could do to stop my story. It came as if engulfing me with a wave. My story needed to be told.

I was raised outside of Boise, Idaho and went to school in the small town of Kuna. Throughout my life many traumatic events happened but there were also a lot of amazing things I went through on my journey. I had a choice as to how I would use those experiences.  They could have broken me if I had let them.  Choosing to fight and learning how to help others has made me a strong woman.

The things I have experienced helped me become the person I am today.  Life experiences can be difficult or amazing. I focus on the positive and use my experiences to help others understand what may be going on behind closed doors. I share my struggle with mental health and how I returned my sanity and current great mental health.

As a Speech Language Pathologist, I have helped more than 900 children find their voices. Over the years, several students have shared trauma they experienced with me. I provided a safe place for them to vocalize what had happened to them. With the support of the schools and Social Services I was able to take my experiences and find a way to help them. I believe I am saving lives and motivating people.  I hope my writing is encouraging to others and provides much needed inspiration.

Life is good. Find the good no matter what has happened to you. Don’t be afraid to talk about your

experiences. If someone doesn’t listen the first time, keep talking until you find someone who does.

Let's Talk About it

Thank you Karli Raven for sharing your journey with us on Let’s Talk About It: The Candid Conversations Show with Muriel & Ruby.

Holding on to family secrets creates emotional damage.

Childhood trauma is cruel and unfair.

The memory is carried into adulthood.

Karli shared her courageous journey with sexual abuse and healing to not only empower others, but to keep healing.

There is a quote that says when a survivor comes to you, I hope you will know to listen deeply and slowly, aware of the physiological and social silencing they are struggling with.

Keep sharing your story Karli. It is changing lives.
